After fourteen years of construction, the Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883 much to the delight of the two cities it connected: Brooklyn and New York City. But some wondered just how much weight the new bridge could hold. Was it truly safe? P. T. Barnum, creator of "The Greatest Show on Earth" circus had the perfect way to show the world how much weight the bridge could hold. This book is based off of the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge that connected Brooklyn, NY to New York City in 1883. Citizens were concerned about how much weight the bridge would hold, which lead to P.T. Barnum putting on the "Greatest Show on Earth" to show that even the heaviest things could go across the bridge, safely. I would read this to a 2nd or 3rd grade book (7-8 years old). A classmate in my Advanced Language & Literacy Methods read this book to me. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

I never knew the history behind the Brooklyn bridge. Many people doubted that the bridge would stand because of past experience of bridges collapsing. I think I’d trust anything that survived 21 elephants walking over it. ( )
