A fantastic continuation to the Lunar Chronicles series (to be read after finishing Winter). The story is gripping - I'm instantly jumping into vol. 2 - and the art style is wonderful! ( )

Love to read more in the story! Makes me want to reread the whole Lunar Chronicles even though I just read it a few months ago. Must get volume 2 soon.

This was as expected-- a decent continuation of the Lunar Chronicles, about what happens after Cinder takes the Lunar throne. It's a fairly straightforward story that doesn't do anything new or unexpected, but it's entertaining enough if you enjoyed the book series. The writing gets pretty funny in parts, especially with Iko as the narrator, and I do like seeing visuals of such a diverse cast. The art style is cute and not too polished, which serves the story well, but I did have some trouble discerning between Thorne and Kinney-- I think the artist could have drawn some of the characters more distinctively.

In some ways, it honestly feels like it's its own fanfiction of the series-- lots of romantic moments between the couples for shippers to enjoy, the characters each being super successful/talented, jokes, adventures, fancy parties, etc. The story even tries to delve into the question of Iko's sentience as a robot. It's nice that they make the attempt, I guess, although it's handled without any real depth. But it works for the Lunar Chronicles, which has always felt more like the breeziest kind of middle grade series to me, where all the threats are superficial and everything feels too easy. ( )

Really cute story that gives my girl Iko the recognition she deserves!!! ( )
