Entered because it had Paris in the title and the synopsis was interesting. The more I read the more I ended up not liking the main character. ( ) I truly enjoyed this story. I won a free kindle book as a giveaway through Goodreads. I was expecting light reading and although it was to a degree, it included adventure, self awareness, love, loss and sadness. There was never a dull moment and many surprises along the way. I can't wait to read the sequel Paris Ever After. Aquesta ressenya s'ha escrit per al programa Donatius de membres de LibraryThing. Well written with an incredible flow. Lovely Read. Aquesta ressenya s'ha escrit per al programa Donatius de membres de LibraryThing. The Paris Effect was a good read. She is all about diet rules, until her friend dies and she takes a trip that she was planning with her friend before she got sick. She ditches her diet rules, and has a little fun along the way! I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review. Aquesta ressenya s'ha escrit per al programa Donatius de membres de LibraryThing. I received a copy of The Paris Effect in a giveaway from Library Thing. I found the book a bit off-putting at first - the main character, Amy, is obsessed with food rules, and she wasn't particularly likable. However, given the fact that Amy's best friend had just died three weeks prior to the opening of the book (after a long bout with cancer), and Amy was unemployed, living with a perfectionist of a husband, and ambivalent about starting a family, I decided to give her a chance and keep reading. The book got better, taking a few surprising detours along the way!Amy decides to follow through on "The Plan," which was a plan formulated by her and her late best friend Kat to sneak off to Paris. She has a number of experiences during her trip which force her to leave her comfort zone & really think about what she wants from her life and her relationships. Overall I enjoyed the book - it was gratifying to see Amy break out of her rut, learn from her experiences, and take control of her life. It definitely makes sense that Burns is planning a sequel - it seems that Amy is just coming into her own in the last few chapters. The 3.5 star review reflects the fact that this book is definitely BETTER than okay, but not really a four-star read for me. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
When Amy loses her best friend, Kat, to cancer, she knows their dream of a secret trip to Paris will never come true. Yet Kat's words haunt her, urging her to embark on the Paris trip alone and shed the dissatisfaction of her life in Phoenix. Little by little, Amy, grappling with a failing marriage and struggling with painful childhood memories, lets herself be swayed. Guided by Kat's bold voice, Amy sneaks off to Paris while her husband is away on a business trip. Once there, however, she finds that her problems have come right along with her. Through her adventures, laced with luscious descriptions of food and Paris, Amy learns that often in life, love, and friendship, nothing is exactly as it seems. Will Amy choose the life she's discovered in Paris or decide to revive the one she left behind? No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
