Ugh. I had such high hopes. Because of her anxiety, I hate to hate on Maeve, but she's totally one dimensional and insufferable. Maybe if there was more to her than her anxiety and her attraction to one character? ( )

“You can say that you’re sorry. You can say that you’re going to stop. You can say that you’re going to get help. That’s what the hell you can say.”

I read this book a few months ago and I’m only just getting around to writing a review now but I first of all just wanted to say how special this book truly is.

One of the worsts things in this world is having to witness someone you love struggling with addiction or alcoholism.

Maeve was a character that I really saw myself in. I understood her anxiety. I understood her anger.

Her brothers and their silly antics made me giggle out loud multiple times. I truly just loved every single one of these characters and the story that came with them.

The fact that this book was also wlw on top of everything just made it just that much better. This book truly holds a special place in my heart. ( )

Ah this was such a DELIGHT, and at turns heartbreaking, adorable, and uproariously funny. It's a quick read, but I spent HOURS looking up the morbid things Maeve is obsessed with and anxious about, so I was thankfully able to really take my time and enjoy this.

This is a 2017 release, so I'll leave it at that for now and write a longer review later!

Thanks so much to Knopf for the review copy! ( )

I feel really let down by this book and by all the people who have screamed for the last year that I should read this book. How is it possible that a book about dealing with anxiety actually GAVE me anxiety? Not only is our MC so boring that it actually makes her unlikable, the author goes to great lengths to describe... really graphic things. We get descriptions of penises (old ones that belong to Maeve's mom's boyfriend), child birth (gory details and pooping during birth details), and a really unfortunate scene where Maeve tells her step-mom that she's not Queer because being bi isn't being Queer. Nice job, Carrie Mac. ( )

I received this book from @grownupreads to read in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟10 Things I Can See From Here by Carrie Mac. Maeve is a 16 year old girl that struggles with anxiety. No, not struggles with, is anxious, all the time about everyone and everything. She sees statistics and death at every corner in her world. Her Mom is moving to Haiti for six months with a man Maeve can not stand. Maeve will have to go live with her father, twin halfbrothers, and pregnant step mom, Claire. She isn't happy her world is turned upside down. She meets a girl, is bashful, messes up badly, feels anxious but then amazingly, Salix, helps complete the anxiety Maeve lives in. Maeve's father struggles with addiction and is ruining his family and Maeve feels it is her responsibility to put it all back in order. And just when she couldn't be more overwhelmed her step mom goes into labor at the lake 3 weeks early. This was a warm feeling read for me. See the fear, conquer the fear. While the story was about Maeve and her anxiety I loved the other characters and wanted to know more about each of them.
