My most favourite story in the anthology is The Foundation of Science Fiction Success, hands down!
(My second-most favourite is It's Such a Beautiful Day and then Found! Though none of them beats Nightfall IMHO.) ( )

The Best Science Fiction of Isaac Asimov is not as concise as Nine Tomorrows, and contains a modest amount of filler, but is still a collection of many of Asimov's best short fiction. Many of the best stories from Nine Tomorrows reappear here: All the Troubles of the World, The Feeling of Power, The Last Question, Spell My Name With an S, The Ugly Little Boy, and I'm in Marsport Without Hilda. To this collection are added other great stories like Strikebreaker, Franchise, Obituary, The Dead Past (one of my personal favorites), and Jokester.

Some of the stories are less than good - especially the ones that rely upon a pun as a punch line; and as usual, Asimov's poetry is decidedly second rate. A couple of stories are frightening, especially The Last Answer, or sad, like Eyes Do More Than See. The Immortal Bard is a scathing attack on pretentious English teachers.

This is probably the most representative collection of Asimov's work - it contains most of his best non-Robot stories, as well as showing a smattering of his less impressive (but dear to his own heart) work. For any science fiction fan, this is a must read. ( )

Some classic stories here, but there was plenty of self-indulgence from Asimov on display as well. An uneven volume. ( )
