Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. This fifth collection is really great. A former villain from this series comes back but not in the way you think. But the main story arc has her trying to save her current boyfriend from being killed in jail. The story was good and the end of the arc has a great punch to it and I think it really makes her a better character. I really enjoy this series and I hope it keeps going for a while. Digital review copy provided by the publisher through Edelweiss. Harley and her gang are back on their mission to right wrongs, with a case close to home. Harley's would-be beau Mason is being brutalized in prison and things go from bad to worse when he's transferred to Arkham Asylum -- with a cell right next to the Joker's! Can Harley save Mason or will she be succumbed by the Joker's "charms" once again? There was a lot to like in this book, but there were also a few things to give me pause. The violence in the Harley Quinn comics is usually stylized and so over the top as to render it ridiculous. But the violence that Mason meets at the hands of the prison system (both inmates and guards) seems very real. In addition, more than once a group of men terrorize women, threatening to kill them. These men begin by saying something to the effect of "let's have some fun first," clearly indicating sexual violence. And, of course, the Joker and Harley's relationship is dysfunctional and abusive, although in this volume Harley seems to walk away from it for good (despite the misleading title about the Joker having the last laugh). Poison Ivy's presence is great, as well as the addition of some other DCU characters, including the Batman himself. The additional story about Harley finding a genie is pure fun. The opening story wrapping up Sy's Russian spy storyline is also pretty good, with quite a number of textual and visual quips. The illustrations continue to be fitting with the tone and are well done overall. I received this from Edelweiss and DC Comics in exchange for an honest review. I don't understand it and can't explain it, since I'm nowhere near the target audience for this series, but I sure have a lot of fun reading about Harley Quinn and her antics. Very goofy, to be sure, but enjoyable nonetheless. Lots going on in this TPB.. They have to go rescue Mason and they take on the Mayor as well. They also have quite the confrontation with Zena. She wants to kill Sy and Harley. They sorta help Mason, but then he gets put in deeper trouble (Arkham). Of course that's lucky for us readers because that means Harley goes to Gotham and has some scenes with Ivy. Not enough scenes for my taste, but, some at least. Heh, and the boat stuff at the end with Ivy was hilarious. It was a nice TPB. They've made Harley into such a complex character. Just awesome (shh... don't tell Marvel, but Ithink she's probably even more complex than Deadpool). I got this book through Netgalley on behalf of DC Entertainment. "At long last, it's Harley Quinn and The Joker, face-to-face! Harley's got an endangered friend to save, but there's just one problem: she's got to get through Arkham Asylum first! Unsurprisingly, Harley's not eager to set foot in the site of some of her darkest hours...and she definitely isn't ready to face a certain someone who's laughing at the end of a dark hallway. The life of Harley's new love, Mason Macabre, is in the Joker's hands...but can he or Harley survive another round of The Joker's twisted mind games? From the best-selling creative team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner (STARFIRE) comes HARLEY QUINN VOL. 5! Collects HARLEY QUINN #22-27"-- No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

That doesn't mean that the volume is bad, I did like it, I found it amazing and it was a hell of a lot better than the previous volume. The art is, as usual, good as well. I had when I start to read a comic and the change the artist along the way and ruin everything. But with Harley Quinn, is the art pretty much always good!
I want to thank the publisher for providing me with a free copy through Edelweiss for an honest review! ( )
