As someone who thoroughly enjoys the Heartstopper graphic novel series as well as its television adaptation, this novella was a lovely scene into the future of each Nick and Charlie - what their relationship will look like and how the pair need to work together to overcome any obstacle. It remains true and continuous to the main series by mentioning previous events such as Charlie’s sufferings in mental health found in volumes 3+4 of the graphic novels. Overall, this was a fantastic addition to the Heartstopper universe! ( ![]() All this book made me realize was that I'm glad I'm not a teenager who overthinks things so much anymore. Now I'm an adult who overthinks things, but in slightly more productive ways and not about my partner, so that's something. [Still a cute read, though] As a novella (all text, with the occasional panel or illustration), the switch in format takes a bit of getting used to after four volumes of graphic novels, but fans will enjoy the story of the summer before Nick goes off to university and Charlie begins his final year of school. Charlie hates hearing Nick talk about uni, but feels guilty about it, and so doesn't say anything; Nick is excited to start his own life, but still devoted to their long-distance relationship plan. When a drunken miscommunication turns into a fight and maybe a breakup, both worry that they won't find their way back to each other - is Nick-and-Charlie over for good? But friends (and Charlie's sister) help them find their way back to each other. Chapters alternate between the boys' first-person POV. "I think you need to talk to him." "I don't know what to say," I whisper. "Just something. Anything." "He hates me." "That's untrue." "He's angry." "That's temporary." "I don't know what to say." "It doesn't matter what you say," she says. "You just have to say something." (88-89) Nick is excited about graduating and attending university next year, but Charlie is really worried that their relationship cannot survive when Nick will be so far away in this Heartstopper novella. A completely relatable and lovable story. audio novella (1 hr, 45 min, full cast audio with very professional-sounding actors), 1.5 in Heartstoppers series Charlie and Nick have now been dating for two years and now Nick is graduating and about to start University. Not really a full story, just a short episode--one big spat and then they eventually make up--but lovely enough if you enjoy shipping the two. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
A short novella based on the beloved characters from the graphic novel Heartstopper and Alice Oseman's debut novel Solitaire, which was praised as 'The Catcher in the Rye for the digital age' by The Times. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? CHARLIE: "I have been going out with Nick Nelson for two years. He likes rugby, Formula 1, dogs, the Marvel universe, the sound felt-tips make on paper, rain and drawing on shoes. He also likes me." NICK: "Things me and Charlie Spring do together include: Watch films. Sit in the same room on different laptops. Text each other from different rooms. Make out. Make food. Make drinks. Get drunk. Talk. Argue. Laugh. Maybe we're kind of boring. But that's fine with us." Everyone knows that Nick and Charlie are the perfect couple - that they're inseparable. But now Nick is leaving for university, and Charlie will be left behind at Sixth Form. Everyone's asking if they're staying together, which is a stupid question - they're 'Nick and Charlie' for God's sake! But as the time to say goodbye gets inevitably closer, both Nick and Charlie question whether their love is strong enough to survive being apart. Or are they delaying the inevitable? Because everyone knows that first loves rarely last forever... No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
