WAY too much drama.
Did not like either character.
Can't stand the writing.

OVER AND OUT. ( )

As usual, Brigid Kemmerer pulls you in with her dark, touching writing. Juliet has just lost her mother. She’s writing letters to her at her grave when someone begins writing back. Enter Declan, the school outcast, who doesn’t fit in at home or at school. These two hate each other in real life, but connect through their personal tragedies. And slowly, begin to hate each other a little less. But as the letters/emails go on and on and each doesn’t know who the other is, how does this end? As a warning, this is a dark, dark book without many rainbows. Both characters are dealing with a heavy burden of grief, and there’s no easy way to wade through it except forward. It is however, beautifully done. As we near the end and plot twists are revealed, this had me on the edge of my seat.

Trigger Warnings: drunk driving, grief, neglect, death of parent, infidelity

Sometimes a 5-star read turns out less engaging than I remember but this was just as good as I recall it being the first time. ( )

I really liked this and it was a quick read because the writing was just so easy to keep reading. It was not what I was expecting. This isn't a fluffy contemporary book. The romance is there but kinda in the background behind all the drama happening.

Like I said, this was a super easy book to read quickly. Some of the content, however, touches on tougher stuff. The support the main characters had from some people was amazing. Also, Declan and Rev had such a great friendship. The format overall is good with the letters and emails.

On the other end, I wasn't as fond of Juliet's friendship with Rowan. I also just wasn't as much of a fan of Juliet in general. There was a lot of miscommunication or lack of communication so if that annoys you, like it does me, just keep that in mind. The end was also not my favourite. In a pretty short amount of pages everything was tied up and everything seemed very happy especially compared to the rest of the book. I just wish it was done a little different I guess.

This book was good. It was easy to read and easy to get into. There were a lot of good lines in the book as well. Good read and I would recommend it. ( )
