Organized to align with a toddler's outward-bound consciousness, the book begins with self and moves gradually into a broader context. The double-page spreads "All about Me" and "My Clothes" begin the book, but later subjects include "At the Supermarket" and "Going to School," and, finally, concepts, such as "Colors, Shapes, and Numbers" and "Opposites," are introduced. Clear, readable lettering labels the objects. The full-color artwork includes some paintings alongside the many photographs, but with many small pictures on each bright white page, the juxtaposition of media works surprisingly well. A good choice for children learning to talk, with secondary uses for children learning to read or studying English as a second language.
