I thought the beginning was stronger than the end but it was all very good. I loved the relationship dynamic and the characters. Didn't love the cliffhanger ending but I am very excited to read book two. I knew very little about this book going in. I knew a little bit about the relationship dynamic and I knew it was political themed and obviously, based on the series name, I knew it had to do with the King Arthur legend. This book is not exactly based in realism. The president, Ash, is 36 which,... no. He's also a third party candidate. Nope. Our heroine, Greer, teaches at Georgetown, a pretty prestigious university, even though she only has a masters and not a PhD. That would never happen. It's also pretty funny that Greer is a King Arthur scholar and she never thinks that it's interesting that she meets people with names like Merlin Rhys and Morgan Leffrey and isn't like, comparing them to the characters in the legend or even remarking about it at all. However, all these unrealistic things are very forgivable and not too distracting. This is a sort of alternate universe US where there is a war against the small country of Carpathia. I thought this all made for an interesting setting for this story so even though I found a lot of this to be unrealistic, I didn't mind. This Was a relationship dynamic I loved. The way Greer, Ash, and Embry all interacted was exactly what I wanted out of this story. The characters were very well defined and played off each other very well. I think with these sort of romances, it is very important to make sure each character is very distinctive. I think that was done very well here. It was especially successful because those character differences play into the plot and the relationship. These characters are all flawed people and they do not grow and overcome all of these flaws. I think that's a good thing for this type of romance series because it allows you to see character development all through the whole series. This book will not be for everyone. It is a very steamy, pretty dark romance. However, I felt like I couldn't put it down. I read this so fast and enjoyed it the whole time. I knew halfway through this book that I was going read this whole series back to back. I can't wait to pick up book two and see where our characters go from here. 'American Queen' is the first Sierra Simone book that I read, and it won't be the last one. It is a book that you want to find out what will happen to our three main characters after the cliffhanger that the author manages to give us. I heard many things about the 'New Camelot Trilogy,' and the first installment in particular. As well as, I hear a lot of things about Sierra Simone. I love how the erotical plot twists are intertwining with the political issues that are occurring in the novel. You can feel the emotions radiating from the pages. The sexual chemistry between all three main characters is so hot it's like a flash fire. It's set your soul ablaze and causes your blood to burn. I recommend not reading this at work. Well, I know that I will continue reading the series pretty soon. Audiobook – 5 stars for Stephanie Rose! she rocks. Story – 3.75 stars “We kissed for a very long time, until I made sure that I had tasted every trace of your cunt on his mouth, and then I marked his neck. Did you see? I wanted you to see. I can’t decide if that was cruel of me or kind.” I stumbled upon this book when I was sampling audiobooks, it was like a calling. The Narrator is amazing. She gave the characters distinct voices, which is usually hard when it comes to female narrators. I will be checking out her other audiobooks. I have been craving for a good hot erotica story and bam boom, I got this one. The prologue is the hottest phantom orgasm inducing prologue I have ever read. "Pull it out. Show Greer what she's done to you." This book is hoooot! Who knew MF sex can be this hot. I believe the story is based on Arthur, Guinevere and Sir Lancelot, love triangle. Ash, Greer and Embry got some mad bedroom chemistry. The story is told in Greer’s POV, she is the First Lady/Princess. I really liked her, she could be stupid sometimes but it was understandable, she is a real representation of some of us. Especially when she was 16, I was like, this was me! Ash is President/King, damn what an Alpha male. He was a Jerk most of the time, a dominant Jerk, a vulnerable man that I loved to hate but I couldn’t. I freaking loved him by the end of this book. In another life, I want me some Ash to give me some good spanking. Embry is Vice President/Prince and Ash’s Best Friend. GAAAAAHH!!! I loved Embry from the moment he was introduced. I don’t know what it is about him, but he just pulled me in. I can’t wait to get his POV. “Pull yours out,” Ash tells Embry. “Pull it out and rub it while you suck me.” I enjoyed the BDSM element even though it came from nowhere. This is pure Erotica, no plot just hot sex with equally hot characters and some character development. The love part between Ash and Greer was hard to believe. Lust yes! Love nah. Ash and Embry on the other hard! I believe these two have been in love for a long time. Someone should have thrown a banana peel on the floor and let Abilene step on it, slip and hit her head really hard. I listened to this in one sitting, it was freaking entertaining, just the perfect escapism. “I didn’t kiss him because I wanted to hurt you, I kissed him because even though he’s broken my heart twice in ten years, I still think he looks beautiful in the winter moonlight. Because sometimes I think I might literally die from wanting to feel his lips on mine.” Embry's book better be good. Utterly absurd, utterly filthy, and utterly fun and smart. If you like smut, like really smutty BDSM smut (light on the SM, this is more control than pain, though there is pain), I recommend this absolutely. My only issue was that the 2 men in this throuple are the US President and VP, and while I had some giggles at the thought of Mike Pence kneeling and .... servicing his partners, the thought of POTUS having rough kinky sex, given that the current president is a sociopath and a criminal who looks like Foghorn Leghorn, sounds like Curly Howard, and presumably smells like Pepe LePew, well it gets the way of the sexy. It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires . . . and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire. My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States. This is the story of an American Queen. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

Loved and going to continue the series.
Steamy hot and very intriguing. Mysterious in many ways.
Well written. Well paced.
Would have liked it better if we had gotten some POV from Embry and Max. Drove me nuts not knowing what they were thinking. (
