Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed. For the first 40% of this book, I really had absolutely no idea about what I was going to rate this book. I didn't hate it or anything but I also wasn't loving it. However, the last half was just so much better to me than the first half, which bumped this up to 4 stars for me.

A lot of people describe this as a book as a darker romance. You really aren't supposed to love Ryen right away. She's a mean person and her friends are awful as well. She is the bully that you see in other romance novels. To compare this to a different dark romance that I read this year, [b:Code of Silence|48107416|Code of Silence|Shantel Tessier|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1578101328l/48107416._SY75_.jpg|73324993], I actually liked this book because even though there is some dislike and tension between Ryen and Misha at the beginning of the book, you can can tell, especially in later parts, that they actual care for each other and respect each other which was something totally missing from Code of Silence. I liked that Ryen and Misha weren't really good for each other right away because it meant we got to see them work at a relationship, even if it was messy.

The background characters and their stories were good as well and really helped to set the scene. I always struggle a little bit with books set in high school where truly insane things happen. I'm not long out of high school and even though I was pretty boring in high school, I do know the things that high schoolers do and what makes sense for high schools to be doing, even if it seems stupid, and what is unrealistic. I think this book did a good job of creating good conflict within a high school and accurately portraying high school without being unrealistic about the sort of things most high schoolers do.

I know some people describe this book as erotica or smut which I don't think is accurate. Yes there are steamier sex scenes in this book. Most romances have sex scenes, even when set in high school. That's part of the reason a lot of high school romances are set during senior year, when a lot of the students will be 18. However, just having edgier or steamier sex scenes does not make a book erotica. Erotica is when a book is almost entirely centered around sex. I read and enjoy some erotica but this was absolutely a romance and the sex scenes in this book were used as a way to further the plot and the relationship between our two main characters.

Without spoiling anything, I could have done without the epilogue. I liked the idea of having a little more ambiguity at the end of this book, especially since it is a high school romance and a lot can change after high school. I'm sure a lot of people will like this ending, I just wanted and was expecting something a little different.

I had seen a lot of recommendations for this book and I'm super glad this wasn't a disappointment for me. If I had liked the first third of the book a little more and the ending was a little different, I probably would have given this 5 stars. I can totally understand why so many people have this as one of their favorite romances. I would recommend this if you want a high school romance that is a bit steamier.

If you love childhood friends and friends to enemies type of story, this story entitled Punk 57 is for you. Misha and Ryen are pen pal friends since they were young and when they thought they were perfect for each other, all of it was ruined when Misha stopped writing back to Ryen's letters for three months. Ryen never stopped hoping that one day he'll write back that's why she still sends him her letters. She felt so lonely. She needs someone to listen to her. Her family thinks she's crazy and just imagining Misha. Is Misha really just her imagination?

When Misha attended a party and heard her name, he couldn't resist but to search online just to see if she's really near him and just an arm away even though it's one of their rules. He's willing to break them just to check if it's really her. It's really her. He doesn't know how should he act towards her. Should he introduce himself as Misha? or should he keep it a secret? But before they could talk more, something happened. Then everything is not the same anymore. He was angry, hurt, disappointed, sad, and broken, these words could not describe how he's really feeling at that time. How will these characters meet again? Will they be able to fix what's already broken?

This is absolutely my favorite read this month!!! You guys! This story broke me into tiny pieces just to pick me up in the end. It's insanely heartbreaking and makes you crazy. I hated the female lead at first for how she was acting and faking everything. I hated how coward and blind she became just to fit in with other people. I literally wanted to smack the hell out of her so she would wake up in her dreamland. But as the story goes on and on, she became my favorite girl! I learned how to love her just as much as how she learned to accept herself for who she really is and not give a damn about what other people might say.

Misha became the bad boy in the new school and honestly, it makes him more attractive. Yes, I'm guilty of being attracted to every bad boy I read in books. I love the relationship between Ryen and Misha and how sneaky they are at school. It feels illegal but exciting at the same time to be with each other at school. The spiciness of this story is 5 out of 5 *chef's kiss* This story is amazing and words are not enough to describe it. There are a lot of lessons you can learn here. It gives you and insight into the reality every high school student might encounter, for example, bullying, feeling alone, heartbreak, wanting to fit in, friendship, love, family problems, and many more. Kudos to the author for making such a great piece! I highly recommend this to everyone who loves reading. ( )

This one was an okay read for me. I expected quite a lot when I decided to read this since I've seen a lot of positive reviews. I liked the concept, alright, it just felt like too fast for me. The couple were too fast, from hating to banging each other. That's probably the only thing I hated about it. Everything else were fine, they loved each other, I could feel that. Their longing for someone who they didn't know but also know all too well. That was some good angst right there, phew.

I JUST TO SAY THAT I INSTANTLY GUESSED THAT THE PRINCIPAL WAS MISHA'S MOM, IT WAS SO OBVIOUS BUT I CAN'T FEELING SMUG ABOUT IT LOL

Misha

I can’t help but smile at the words in her letter. She misses me.

In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.

It didn’t take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever…

And that was the start. For the next seven years, it was us.

Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it?

Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances?

F*ck it. I need to meet her.

I just don’t expect to hate what I find.

Ryen

He hasn’t written in three months. Something’s wrong. Did he die? Get arrested? Knowing Misha, neither would be a stretch.

Without him around, I’m going crazy. I need to know someone is listening. It’s my own fault. I should've gotten his number or picture or something.

He could be gone forever.

Or right under my nose, and I wouldn’t even know it.
