Each continents' pages list a saying or greeting in their language with an English translation. The illustrations are great at showing diversity as well. This is definitely an atlas, not meant to be read through like a book. However, the book has an app that allows you to hear the languages being spoken on each page! This could be a great tool to have the students pick a language and research how to say a simple phrase and then go around the room introducing the students to a new culture or language. In the back there is a "further phrases" section which gives you translations in a list form for easier finding. I honestly didn't know there were this many languages being spoken around the world and I would love to see students interacting and learning with this atlas. ( ![]() I really like this book for giving kids an introduction to the number of languages that exist throughout the world. One of the nice things about it is that it has an app you can download to go with it, and that will give you audio clips of phrases in different languages. For each language, it has several basic phrases ("Hello", "What's your name?", "Nice to meet you", etc.), so the app expands on the one or two phrases per language that the book provides. With foreword by ethnobotanist and explorer, Professor Wade Davis. Comes with a free, downloadable app for iOS and Android that allows you to hear the phrases in the book, each recorded by a native speaker. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
