Chaol has always been one of my favorite characters in the series and I struggled with his story arc in books 3 and 4. I was happy to see this installment and all it had to offer about his past and future. I also really appreciate the addition of new characters and how well thought out the interweaving plots and intersections of their stories flow. ( ![]() Nesryn Faliq the Captain of the Guard and Chaeol Westfall the Hand to Dorian, King of Adarlan journeyed to Antica in hopes the famed healers could heal Chaeol and garner allies for Adaria. They had a companionable intimacy but as they navigated the intricacies and politics of Antica, their personal paths diverge. Yrene Towers is the healing heir to the Torre Towers. She wants no part of healing this man from Adarlan, the country that killed her mother. However she's a healer at heart and will not shirk her duty. I thought she was brilliant, making her mark not only at the Torre but navigating the royals and investigating the threat of the Valg. Chaol works closely with Yrene to heal him and fight the darkness lurking inside him and in that process they go from battling each other to joining forces to battle the evil within and the Valg spy trying to kill them. The secondary romance between Nesryn Faliq and Prince Sartaq, Commander of the ruk riders, almost stole the story, as they drove a lot of the action. Some stories take a long time to tell and you don't notice because you are so caught up in it and this was true for some parts of 'Tower of Dawn' but in other areas it seemed to drag on for no purpose but to be bogged down in day to day minutia. There's a lot of healing to be done by each of these characters not only physically but mentally and I appreciated the author's authenticity in regards to Chaol being bound to a wheelchair and his struggles. There's lots of reveals in this installment so you'll want to read this to prepare for 'Kingdom of Ash.' If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/ I felt this was very slow and long. Don't expect to pick up where the last book left off, it changes scene to Choal and his path to healing. The issue I have with the whole series is the age of the characters. With the amount of experience they they supposedly have had and the way they think and act I'd expect them to be in their mid 30's not 23. This book must be read as part of the series, continues in next book. There are some interesting revelations in this book. This installment of the series follows Chaol and Nesryn, as Chaol seeks a healer, and the Great Khagan of Antica's best warriors for the fated match that will come to fruition probably sooner than anticipated, as the darkness defeated in Rifthold grows ever more threatening. hb Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
