One of Cosmopolitan's Best Books of 2017! Lord Alaric Wilde, son of the Duke of Lindow, is the most celebrated man in England, revered for his dangerous adventures and rakish good looks. Arriving home from years abroad, he has no idea of his own celebrity until his boat is met by mobs of screaming ladies. Alaric escapes to his father's castle, but just as he grasps that he's not only famous but notorious, he encounters the very private, very witty, Miss Willa Ffynche.   Willa presents the façade of a serene young lady to the world. Her love of books and bawdy jokes is purely for the delight of her intimate friends. She wants nothing to do with a man whose private life is splashed over every newspaper.   Alaric has never met a woman he wanted for his own . . . until he meets Willa. He's never lost a battle.   But a spirited woman like Willa isn't going to make it easy. . . .   The first book in Eloisa James's dazzling new series set in the Georgian period glows with her trademark wit and sexy charm--and introduces a large, eccentric family. Readers will love the Wildes of Lindow Castle!… (més)

This first book in the Wildes of Lindow Castle series by @eloisajamesbooks is a character fragrant clever candy confection and I inhaled every chapter to the last bite.

Heroine and Hero and equally lovely and the hijinks are high while the drama is low, making this a perfect read for our pandemic times. Plus there's a pet skunk people! Read it and relish it's glory! ( )

Wilde in Love by Eloise James

Historical romance. First of the Wildes of Lindow Castle series.
Smart and passionate describes the heroine best. Also virginal and a bit snarky. The hero falls hard.
Adorable if weird pets. Lots of secondary characters that you know will show in future books.

Willa isn’t going to be taken in by a title, let alone one with rakish good looks. Until she is.

I listened to an audio version narrated by Susan Duerden with a pleasing British accent. ( )

I am WILD about Wilde in Love. Eloisa James did a fantastic job of creating fun, smart, and strong characters. Lord Wilde, an author/ explorer returns home to more fanfare than a modern day rock star. His image is plastered on the walls of girls and women everywhere. They travel to his estate to steal brick and flowers. There is even a sold out play about him called Wilde In Love.
Willa is a beauty with a brain. She's already turned down 14 suitors and doesn't intent to marry just any man - he must be smart, a good conversationalist and intensely private.
When the two meet the sparks fly! She ties to resist - he is everything she doesn't want. She yearns for privacy and his life is on display for all to see. The more she ignores him the more he wants her.
If the heat bestrewn these two isn't enough, throw in a spurned woman who fancies herself in love with Lord Wilde to the point of being dangerous.
Since this is just book 1 in the series, I see many more Wilde tales in my future. ( )

Wilde In Love (The Wildes of Lindow Castle) by Eloisa James
Readers who expect the unexpected, won't be disappointed.  Wilde In Love wears it's heart on it's sleeve.  The dashingly roguish adventurer enamored of the spirited spinster is an odd pairing.  However, Willa is one surprise after another.  She speaks her mind, she knows her heart and she has a tendency to be judgmental.  What's that saying?  Be careful of the quiet ones, because they're anything but.  That characterizes Willa.  Honestly, both Willa and Alaric take some getting used to.  They can annoy as easily as they can charm, but the hints of humor that break through the stuffy moments are just what the doctor ordered.

I loved this book.

A well-written story. No strange out of the blue plot twists. Likeable, no loveable characters.

I'm looking forward to meeting the Wildes again in the next novel. ( )
