Although aimed at those who are not really readers (hence the length) it was still a well written piece that brought into the fore the plight of a refugee arriving in a new country and tight knit community. I could read any of Jenny's books in one day to be honest, but I am binge watching Korean dramas at present so fitted this in between episodes! You could finish this in an hour! I'm a huge fan of the quick reads and read them in between normal length books. Bought this without knowing too much about the book or author. First of all, the first time I have read a Jenny Colgan book and have never really heard of her. However, this tiny little book is a bit of a gem. Started reading it and was immediately absorbed in it and finished it in one sitting. I liked Lorna, she has a lot going on but seems to be a nice woman. Saif deserves some chances in life and I'm glad that he got the post and got to meet Lorna. There's not an easy way to say too much about this tiny book without telling the whole story so I'll just leave it at that. A nice little book to pass the time with. Wanted: doctor for small island. Must like boats, the seaside and having no hope of keeping a secret... Lorna lives on the tiny Scottish island of Mure, a peaceful place where everyone helps their neighbour. But the local GP is retiring, and nobody wants his job. Mure is too small and too remote. Far away, in a crowded camp, Saif is treating a little boy with a badly-cut hand. Saif is a refugee, but he's also a doctor: exactly what Mure needs. Saif is welcome in Mure, but can he forget his past? Over one summer, Saif will find a place to call home, and Lorna's life will change forever. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

A very quick read (went in one sitting) but needed for continuity. ( )
