This book is about the invention of the machines that make"fairy floss" or cotton candy. It starts with John Wharton, a candy maker, stands over a gas-fired stove cranking his machine over and over again. Then in Nashville in 1997 John and his his dentist friend, William Morrison, created an electric machine. William Morrison added an electric motor to the machine so that you no longer have to crank and crank the machine. The fairy floss created by this new machine is also very thing and fine compared to the past it was very thick. John and William debut their invention in 1904 at the St. Louis World Fair. They sold their fairy floss fro just $0.25 a box and it was a huge hit. At the very end of the book their is a page titled "Author's Note" which has a summarized version with all the main facts of the book as well as stating additional facts about the invention and cotton candy.
