Fictional accounts of 3 young people, each in a different place and time, but all facing forced migration. The stories are interspersed, often in heartbreaking detail, depicting the dangerous and emotionally fraught situations faced by children forced to move from their homes. Refugee gives the reader a look into what a refugee goes through when fleeing their homeland in order to survive the tragedy that has struck it. Alan Gratz writes about three different children, in different time periods, and different countries however they are all experiencing the same hardship. I like how he portrays each character and brings light to a difficult topic in this day and age where some want to protect their own lands and seal the borders and others want to welcome everyone with open arms as they remember how hard that experience is. I would recommend Refugee for 8th-12th grade ELAR class as it mentions difficult subjects. The Refugee is the story in third person perspective all children around the year of 1938 through 2015. Each child comes from a different background but have one thing in common which is escaping with their families from terrorism. The book connects when learning about different countries and the history of rights they do not have or the terroristic attacks they encounter. This chapter book is an amazing find and would be a great book for kids in 7th and 8th grade. This book tells the lives of three different children and their family seeking refugee. This book shines the light on real life and the realization of the privilege that we have here in America in 2020. This book shows the idea that the grass is not always greener on the other side. I think this book will really help students understand why you should understand someone and their history before judging their actions. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
