(Like murder.) That's the idea behind this book. It taught me a lot about the type of "videogames" played on the Internet and other things my teenage son would probably just as soon I not know! The heroine is the ordinary boy's sister. She has a background in film and FX, which comes in handy when a surveillance tape shows her brother supposedly shooting another boy. But this book isn't about a simple shooting, it's about something much bigger. The book is ambitious. On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of complicated plots, it's an eight at least. I liked that, but it means you have to concentrate. Can't just skim your way through. The dialog is great, very vivid descriptions of San Francisco and lots of dark humor. Good book to read if you want to stay up all night. Kirra Harper Death Game has one of the most unusual protagonists I've seen in a thriller. Cooper O'Brien is a special effects artist, an expert in animation, compositing, puppeteering and particularly digital effects. She worked for a place like Dream Works, but when the book begins she has left that to go back to her (spoiler alert) husband's law practice. She's creating reenactments of fatal accidents when her own brother is caught by a camera shooting and killing another boy. How she figures out the tape has been altered is amazing. I learned a lot about this whole field...something I'd never seen covered in a mystery before. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
Cooper O'Brien knows all about deception--human or otherwise. Confronted with the videotape of her younger brother murdering another boy in cold blood, she refuses to believe it despite overwhelming evidence and her own knowledge of how unstable Jimmie is. Still, with all his faults, nothing will convince her he has the capacity for murder, and she intends to prove it. As she digs deeper into the mystery, Cooper uncovers a plot beyond anything she could have imagined--and that's going a long way. Nothing, she discovers, is what it seems to be, and people she thought she knew turn into strangers with hidden agendas. Time is running out as Cooper faces a challenge she never anticipated and may not survive--along with untold thousands of innocent people. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
