The authors try to make this a book that would be interesting to students, but there is too much text and not enough pictures for students to really enjoy this book. There are a lot of pumpkin patch books out there for kids to read. Many of the books include lots of pictures and simple text. This book includes the same information, but the text is more challenging for a young reader to decode. However, the concept of this book is interesting. I like how the authors take the readers on a field trip to a pumpkin patch. If a class were learning about pumpkins but was unable to go to a pumpkin farm, this book could help show what a pumpkin farm is like. Overall, I would not use this book in my class, but I would put it in my classroom library. Book #4 A Day at the Pumpkin Patch By: Megan Faulkner and Adam Krawesky This book talks about what to expect when taking a trip to the pumpkin patch. They go through the process of what happens when you go to the pumpkin patch. This book would be great to read before you go on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. You can talk to students about what they are going to see at the pumpkin patch and how they should act. Then it talks about what you can do and talk about after the field trip is over.
