I wish the author would have chosen to tell the stories side by side and let the reader in on the whole thing. The very gone girl esque twist of the second half didn't redeem the poor quality of the first. Amber is 100% insufferable and claims everyone around her is a spoiled brat, but I would say Amber is no better. Her motives are childish and I was glad when part 2 came and I didn't have to endure her whining any longer. Daphne's story showed how we truly can't judge a book by its cover. However, this is where the discomfort comes in. Yes, Amber is terrible, but no one deserves what she got, awful or not. I'm torn because I did enjoy the book for the most part but the way the author creates the "just dessert" feels a bit gross and makes it feel like some things are ok for bad people to experience, which I don't think is true.
