![]() Slow-Burn Romance (11) No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. I listened to this for a book club discussion. I'm not really into romance, but this sounded interesting. It 'was' interesting. Very well written, very convincing, and somehow, I fell in love with both protagonists. I really had no idea how this would end, and for a while I was scared: after all, Aaron is deployed in a war zone. I won't tell you if any of what I was afraid of came true. Suffice it to say that I loved how the story and the main characters developed, and how the story unfolded. I was drawn in right from the start and found myself listening every free minute I had. The narrators did an awesome job. Having a female and a male narrator reading the emails of the respective protagonists worked out brilliantly. It made the whole story even more believable -- if that is possible. I can't comment on the accents because English is not my first language, but I had no problems to understand either of the narrators. I can recommend this to anyone who loves a good story. Mariana Zapata is by far my favorite author when it comes to a slow burn romance. I enjoy how there is always a complete story as well as fully fleshed out characters. In general I prefer her books that deal with athletes but this book is still quite a good read. Wow, what a brave story to write. It is amazing. The perfect setting for a slow burn story. Ruby is writing to a soldier, Aaron as part of support program, sending emails/letters and possibly care packages. This setting allows the H/h to get to know each other before ever meeting, it is funny, sometimes quite heartbreaking and very well written. I avoid Zapata's books. PARTIALLY because those who love her LOVE her. The last few I've cracked haven't worked,I don't think I like her formula, but... epistolary. Well, I should have left this on my DNS shelf. And some of y'all hate YA? Under normal reading circumstances this woulda been on my DNF by like 6% 1) SOPHOMORIC SENSE OF HUMOR (do you enjoy stories about human excrement and rectums?) 2)Juvenile POV, recounting. Seriously, I do love touches and flirtatious moments in romance. Yum. But I like them to match with the emotional intimacy that builds physically. And the age of the protags. They acted like me and my boyfriend at 13 years old 3)OH MY MINUTIAE SO many details in this books are not central to its story telling or setting. It doesn't help that it reads like my 10 year old telling me something. Or a manual. So anyway, I'm just here confirming. The next time she writes a book I won't get within range. I'll leave it to her loyal readership! Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas. The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect. What she didn¿t count on was falling in love with the guy. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
