A wonderful Christmas story full of strong, independent women with each woman's character throughly fleshed out so that there are no real bystanders only a very close family. Fate happens, it's how you spin it that matters. Maya just wants to be respected by the people in her town. Yeah, there is some scandal in her family and she works in her mother’s saloon, but being a church-going virgin who doesn’t drink, smoke, do drugs or even date should count for something. Caleb was born and groomed to be a U S Senator like his father and grandfather before him. But when during a planning session is told the qualifications for the woman he needs to marry, he just has to get out of there and fate has it that he’d show up at the saloon. When Caleb meets Maya, he knows exactly who he wants. Maya has issues with male abandonment so it doesn’t help that Caleb had given a different name when they met and wasn’t there the next day when he said he was sticking around, and then couldn’t. So when he does come back into her life, he’s got his work cut out for him. I’ve read a number of this author’s book, but it’s the first that doesn’t have either a paranormal angle or a mystery; just a romance. And I loved it as much as her other books. The Brands are an interesting family; a strong-willed mother who raised five daughters on her own after the man she thought was her husband was killed and it turned out he was a bigamist. Each of the daughters is incredibly unique and proud, but all have a strong sense of family. The type of people you’d like to know. Have some tissues handy. The author lets you inside both Maya’s and Caleb’s head and the reader is along for the emotions. A cute story that leaves you feeling good. Maya and Caleb And accidentally pregnant story. A warm, big family story. I like. The obstacles are accidental and incidental - well, there's how she thinks he thinks of her, but he makes it pretty obvious she's wrong pretty quickly. Why he went was an accident. And the way he acts once he comes back shows the sort of man he is - and she shows her quality too. I like the Oklahoma All-Girl Brands. I want them to cross with their cousins, though. Amusing how Bobby helps - spinmeister gets it right. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

Character wise I liked this one better then Texas Brands #1. Story wise, it might've been a toss up, or slightly leaning in Texas' favor. (
