Lennon penned the first in a series featuring Jamaican detective Raythan Preddy assisted by visiting Glasgow (Scotland) detective Sean Harris. Together they solve the murder of a wealthy Ellis family member. The Ellis family includes Chinese ancestors. The case involves narcotics. Readers question why Harris is in Jamaica and never find the answer. The author overuses Jamaican dialect in conversations. While the author accurately describes Jamaica's impoverished and wealthy residents, it is difficult to connect with her characters. While I appreciated the setting, the book is too gritty for my mystery reading tastes. Readers who enjoy grittier books will rate the book higher than I did. The publisher provided an electronic Advance Reader's Copy through NetGalley with the expectation of an unbiased review. ( ) I received a free advance e-copy of this book and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. This is a well-written Jamaican crime thriller/police procedural with a great plot that is full of twists and turns. I like the way the author uses the Jamaican dialect throughout the book. The differences between cultures within Jamaica and the differences between Detective Harris from Scotland and Detective Preddy a native of Jamaica make for an interesting read. I liked the author’s mix of suspense and humor. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more about Detectives Preddy and Harris and the Jamaican team in the future. This book is a keeper and well worth the read. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
