The beloved author of The Bookshop on the Corner returns with a sparkling, sunny, soulful new novel perfect for fans of Elin Hilderbrand.

Years ago, Flora fled the quiet Scottish island where she grew up ?? and she hasn't looked back. What would she have done on Mure? It's a place where everyone has known her all her life, where no one will let her forget the past. In bright, bustling London, she can be anonymous, ambitious... and hopelessly in love with her boss.

But when fate brings Flora back to the island, she's suddenly swept once more into life with her brothers ?? all strapping, loud, and seemingly incapable of basic housework ?? and her father. Yet even amid the chaos of their reunion, Flora discovers a passion for cooking ?? and find herself restoring dusty little pink-fronted shop on the harbour: a café by the sea.

But with the seasons changing, Flora must come to terms with past mistakes ?? and work out exactly where her future lies...

Funny and heartfelt, The Café by the Sea is a delightful summertime novel that puts a modern twist on the classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers s… (més)

It’s a breezy romance novel. Perfect for a long plane trip which is where I read 90% of this one. ( )

Flora has not been back to the remote island of Mure since the death of her mother. When her job as a London paralegal sends her back to help a rich American client, she finds herself facing her past & discovering her future. Also Romance! ( )

Lovely book set in the mythical Mure Island in northern Scotland. Loved the whole series. I listened to the audio and was thrilled with the accents. ( )

Agot being the four-year-old...

“And also. Colton’s my boyfriend." Even Agot was silent at that. The blood rushed to Fintan’s face. “Well. He’s someone . . . someone important to me. I don’t know if I’d call him . . . I mean, it’s very early days.”
Innes and Hamish just sat there, unmoving. Flora wasn’t entirely sure Hamish had even understood, or Eck, for that matter. Fintan’s stance was sullen, as if daring them to challenge him. He looked more like sixteen than thirty-two.
Agot went up to him. “YOU GOT BOYFRIEND?”
Fintan smiled shyly, and shrugged. “Well, kind of. Not sure. He is nice, though.”
“I’S GOT BOYFRIEND.”
He crouched down. “Who’s your boyfriend?”
“PEPPA,” said Agot.
“Pepper?”
“PEPP-A! HE PIG.”
Fintan smiled. “Well, it’s nice to know I haven’t got the actual weirdest relationship in the place right now.”

CUTEST. COMING OUT SCENE. IN THE HISTORY. OF BOOKS. I CAN'T.

Another delightful Colgan book. This one was much less focused on baking, which wasn't a bad thing. ( )

If you've ever flown into London--I did originally type"You know when you fly into London?" And then I thought, well, that might be a bit presumptuous, like hey-ho, here I am flying about all the time, whereas the reality is I've always bought the cheapie discount flight that meant I had to get up at 4:30 A.M. and therefore didn't sleep at all the night before in case I missed the alarm and actually it cost me more to get to the airport at an ungodly hour and then pour overpriced coffee down myself than it would have done just to buy a sensibly timed flight in the first place...but anyway.

My e-copy says that this 'was first published...' NO! Even if your copy says it, too, do not combine with 'The little shop...'; That's confusing! It is published in the UK as The Summer Seaside Kitchen and the US as The Cafe By the Sea.
