She agrees to a deception for the sake of an old lady, meets some delightful people in Scotland, and (inevitably) falls in love. Great characters and conversation, and it didn't worry me that the plot is perhaps a little too contrived. Eminently re-readable, moving in places, and thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended to anyone who likes character-based women's fiction.
