While a fine compendium of technical and administrative detail on the Inter-War French static defense system, when the authors try to expand their earlier work by Praeger into a consideration of French defense policy through the prism of static defense this work comes off as being half-baked. Those looking for a concise examination of the Maginot Line would probably be best advised to acquire William Allcorn's Osprey booklet on the subject. The last comment does not apply to the paperback edition of this book. ( )
