I kinda wish all the ACOTAR books were around this length- made it so much easier to get through imo
There was nothing really great about this and nothing really bad about it either. Not nearly as much sex as in previous installments, which I'm always grateful for cuz (as I've said hundreds of times before) I hate Rhys.
I feel like the only really interesting thing about this book was seeing the shift in Nesta's mental health and how that affected her and Cassian's relationship. Everything else was just kinda... meh.
I wonder how pointless it's gonna be in the big picture of the plot.
Peace bitches *finger guns* ( )

There's not a lot of forward movement of the plot in this one, but I think that's partly why I loved it so much. It takes time away from the action to let the characters be the characters, to explore their interactions with one another, and I love that. Sure, I think it's also setting up some tensions for whatever's coming next and I appreciate that, too, but it was great to see the characters coming to terms with what happened in the last book, and also just doing day to day things, having a dinner together, ruminating over what presents to get each other for the holiday,... It was a cozy sort of entry in the series and a bit of a breather from the intensity, and I loved it. ( )

I really liked the first three books, but this one was pointless. I might have loved it if it was clearly marketed as a bonus story, since we get to know better the characters’ backgrounds and their current state of mind, but not much plot development happened. In short, this book is just a bridge between the ACOWAR and whatever comes next. I was expecting a lot more, so I wasn’t able to enjoy the atmosphere of it. The descriptions of Velaris and the Illyrian war camps are exquisite, and I appreciated it, as well as some scenes regarding the meaning of art and creation to Feyre, but every time I thought we were going somewhere it would switch back over to shopping, food discussions and recaps of everything we just read in the previous novel. I hope the next one gets back on track. ( )

So...this was different. I guess it is one of those in between books that takes a closer look at the characters and prepares you for whatever comes next.

When Nesta threw herself over Cassian to save him from the Hybern King, I thought I finally liked her but she's back to being the nasty person she was before.

I actually feel sorry for Tamlin and think Rhysand and Feyre are too cruel to him. He seems remorseful for whatever he's done in the past.

I was totally unfulfilled by this book. It was a nice look at the characters but just did not do anything for me. Bleh. ( )
