Some interesting turns in this one. I'm starting to wonder if I need to wait until the larger volumes come out before I read on. I don't seem to retain what's in these shorter collections as well. I'm intrigued by the new group, and Princess seems fun. I'm a little bored with Rick and Dwight's drama and I'm worried about the Sophia-Lydia rivalry that's brewing (mainly because I don't know if Sophia will survive it). I'm not sure what to think of Negan's story, but I'm curious to see where it goes. ( )

Liked this one a lot. Nice character interactions, fascinating plot development. Man, a lot happened in this volume. P. S. I still don't get Negan. ( )

After the white knuckle ride of Vol 28, Kirkman's back to world expansion and character building again, which is never a bad thing. I enjoy the hell out of the action volumes, but I also really enjoy the nuance of these volumes, and this one is no exception. Rick, Dwight, and toward the end, Negan all get some spotlight, and in each case, it's illuminating.

I looked back at some previous volumes and its amazing how many different plot threads with separate groups are running in this volume compared to early on. Not surprising - after 28 volumes of development I expect more complexity, but it means a lot of bouncing back and forth.

Some of the plot developments were really human and satisfying, especially Neegan and Sophia. ( )

Okay, so I cried so hard over Andrea I needed to put the book away for a couple of days.

Something that actually made me happy is Jesus and Aaron finally getting together, and it’s pretty serious, judging by the lovesick faces and, you know, i-love-yous and stuff. You know what would’ve made it even better? Some smoochin’. Just saying. ( )
