With this book my 7 year old daughter and I agree, it has some excellent messages and stunning pictures but we found out quickly that we weren't the target ausience. There were poignant messages within like how to be a helpful, loving friend and how doing good deeds reaps it's own rewards and some unexpected ones too. The morals were not lost on my 7 year old though it was a bit rudimentary for her and early on it was easy for her to suss out what the end reveal would be. She is an intermediate level reader so maybe a slightly younger demographic would be preferable. ( )

This is a cute story about best friends and neighbours living in the small town of Juniper Hollow. Raccoon wants to play, but Fox is too busy. Raccoon jumps right in to help Fox finish her chores, rushing off here and there to help. Little does Raccoon know what surprise is in store for him. The illustrations in this book is amazing! They are felted characters on a paper background that have a multi-dimensional feel to them. They are large and detailed. The colours complement one another quite well. Children will enjoy the illustrations as much as the story. A cute story about friendship and helping one another. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgally.

This book was fun to look at it. The art style is vibrant and energetic. While I doubt this will be one of the new modern classics of picture books, readers will enjoy this story of two friends and their sweet relationship. ( )

There is so much to look at in this book - colors, textures, patters - that it makes reading it a joy! The story is a nice lesson as well, but it's certainly the visuals that are the highlight here! ( )

Fox and Raccoon is about two best friends. Raccoon helps Fox with her chores so that she will be able to play, and discovers at the end of the book that she's been planning a surprise birthday party for him. It's a nice story about friendship and helping others, if not particularly new or different. What makes this book special is the illustrations, which are photographs of felted animals in beautifully constructed backdrops. They are so beautiful, and draw you in to the book. This book seems to be the start of a series, and I would read future books because of the wonderful and unusual illustrations. ( )
