Four privileged, bored L.A. housewives make a pact that each will have a year-long extramarital affair. Each others' husbands are off-limits, and they agree to confide only in each other (assuming that dalliances cause trouble because word gets out). And so our ladies embark--two eagerly, one cautiously, and one very reluctantly--on perilous romantic paths that lead to all manner of adventure and intrigue. As the year progresses, secrets are revealed, betrayals pile up, desires are brought to light, lies are told, and each woman is forced to face up to the truth of who she is and the choices that have brought her here. When the women discover that a local gossip has been spying on them and threatens to reveal their secrets, how far will they go to stop him? And how well do these friends really know each other anyway?--From publisher description.… (més)

Four LA wives seeking excitement make a pact to have extramarital affairs. This leads to deceit, murder and mayhem. Desperate housewives indeed. ( )

This book had a somewhat interesting premise, but the women seemed a bit one dimensional. I didn't care about the outcome, so much. But I didn't hate it. I expect that the author will improve with future books. The ending had a decent twist, but by the end of the book, I could see it coming. ( )

A fun and salacious look inside the lives of four wealthy housewives who decide to cheat on their husbands.

The language is not exactly poetic or worth musing over, just read it for the fly-on-wall perspective of people who already have it all but still want something extra to make them happy.

The ending has a nice twist to it, even if you have to suspend your disbelief. ( )
