Thirty DaysBiton Savakis, a 42 year old wealthy lawyer in New York City, is lost without his beloved slave of ten years. Since Erik's death from cancer three months before, the will to continue his life as a Dom slipped away. Until now. The forlorn looking redhead seems as lost as Biton feels. Maybe the young man can help ease his tension, even if only for a little while.Cavan never chose the life of a slave, but he doesn't clearly remember a time when he wasn't one. Beaten close to death and thrown aside by his former Master, Cavan doesn't know how to do anything else. When Biton offers him a temporary contract, Cavan doesn't understand the meaning of his new Master's words. All he knows is he has a new home and someone to serve. But what will happen to him when the contract ends... In thirty days...ForeverIn Biton Savakis' opinion, following the advice of Cavan's therapist isn't working. Refraining from dominant play with an abused submissive trying to heal is one thing. Biton is willing to forgo that part of his life. However, not talking to Cavan about making their arrangement permanent doesn't make sense.Three months after his new master promises him forever, Cavan is afraid it won't happen. Although the thirty day contract is long over, Biton hasn't offered a new one. Nightmares about testifying against his former master don't make life easier.Just as Cavan begins to understand what he means to Biton, Cavan's past reaches out to steal his happiness and maybe his life.Content: M/M, bondage, Domination/submission… (més)

Thirty Days by Shayla Kersten

Biton is a dom who lost his slave, Erik. Erik was is only partner for the last ten years, and they love each other, but cancer took Erik from Biton. Now Biton aches for another partner, another sub.

Cavan is a slave abused by his former master. He didn't choose to be gay or to be a slave, he was sold to his master when he was sixteen years old. Now he only knows the lifestyle of a slave and only wants a master.

Biton is willing to be the Cavan's master but only if it is a choice of Cavan, and before Cavan can make a choice, he must heal his wounded soul.

This is an heartbreaking story who hold you from beginning. When step by step you learn the life of Cavan, you want to help him and Biton is a wonderful person who choose to abandon his former behaviur of master to help Cavan to heal. But Cavan love so much Biton and finally the decision will be his.

If you don't like the D/S story, this is a little hard to appreciate; but it is also a tender story, with two beautiful characters.

Forever by Shayla Kersten

Forever is the sequel of Thirty Days, a story I have loved very much and maybe one of the first D/S story I have read. Cavan is an abused child sold like sex slave to an evil Master who, after beating him nearly to death, has abandoned him. But Cavan, even if he is free now, is not able to live a normal life, and Biton, an older man who has lost his former lover, takes pity on him and offers him an home and a Thirty Days D/S contract. This is more or less the previous story and now months are passed from the finish of the Thirty Days period but Biton has not yet written another contract, even if has promised to Cavan that their relationship is Forever.

But Cavan is still very fragile and even a piece of paper could make him feel better. He is like a child who needs boundaries to know what is good and what is bad. But not physical boundaries, but more those which you give with love: when you love someone you know what is good or bad cause you know what will make happy or upset your beloved. And so Biton tries to give Cavan all the love he needs, and on the same time, give him enough freedom to take his own decision.

I like very much both Biton than Cavan. They are a whole together, and between them I only feel easyness and a total comprehension, even without words.

Forever, like Thirty Days, is a tale that deal with arguments like D/S role play, but it manages to make it an intimate matter between the two main characters, and not something to be shown outside their home. And this is the reason why I like it a lot.

Interesting concept, similar to the one found in Beloved Vampire by Joey W. Hill but this was not handled well. Biton is 40-ish and his partner is 26 with the mind and emotional depth of a child. Cavan was horribly abused by his previous Master. So what is the first thing Biton do when he is alone with Cavan? Binds him up and spanks him, knowing Cavan's tragic past. This story's only saving grace is that Cavan was given counseling and the knowledge that his abuser was behind bars. ( )

This short story was really good. I didn't want it to end. At the same time, I found myself close to crying a few times, the love for Erik, and the sadness of his passing. The pain and torture Cavan went through...not a lighthearted read but worth the emotions. ( )

This story is about Biton, an experienced Dom, and Cavan, a young man who was forced into the role of a submissive and slave by an abusive and brutal master when he was sixteen.

Cavan naturally is hurt and damaged a lot by the years of abuse, pain and humiliation, nonetheless it´s the only way of life he knows and thus he instinctively craves for the care of a master, even so he never choose to be a submissive or to have sex with another man.

Biton is a completely different kind of dom than Cavan´s former master was, having lived in a caring and loving relationship with Erik for ten years. But recently Erik has died of cancer, which left Biton broken and mourning for hist lost partner.

So when Biton and Cavan meet, both are hurt inside, Biton with a broken heart and Cavan with a broken soul. Biton is horrified by the things that have been done to Cavan and feels the desperate need to care for Cavan, seeing the possibility to heal his own wounds by trying to heal Cavan´s. He offer´s Cavan a formal contract for thirty days.

But after the nightmares of his former life under his old master, it´s not easy for Cavan to trust and forget, especially because it´s important for him to remenber in order to find and convict those responsible.

This is a good book with beautifully carved characters and a great story. As it is a romance some readers could get the impression that the very serious subject of child abuse is simplified in order to achieve a happy ending, and don´t kid yourself, the things described in this book could very well happen in the real word. But in my opinion the author treated the subject in a very sensitive and responsible way and also managed to write a good romance, even so being constricted by the boundaries of this genre. ( )
