Los trece relatos que componen este libro, en su mayor parte inéditos en castellano y extraídos de la obra El triunfo del huevo (1921), nos muestran lo mejor de la narrativa de Sherwood Anderson: expresa sentimientos complejos con un estilo sencillo y se rebela contra el conformismo social. Sus historias están llenas de ternura por los personajes descritos, que parecen extraviados en la violencia de la industrialización americana.

A mixed bag of stories and definitely inferior to Winesburg, Ohio, but a few (particularly "The Egg") are classics.

Note that this particular Kindle edition lacks the title of the final story, "The Man with the Trumpet," so that this final story appears to be a continuation of the penultimate story, "Out of Nowhere into Nothing." There is no actual text missing, but the line "I stated it as definitely as I could" marks the beginning of "The Man with the Trumpet." Nothing to complain about, though, since this Kindle edition (ASIN B0083ZHL56) is a freebie. ( )
