Reading it in graphic novel style made it even more enjoyable. Would love to read another one about other amazing women. ( ) I've seen so many of these types of books published now and they usually are the same thing. They have nice art, but they usually have a one page short bio of a woman you most likely heard about making their life seem like nothing bad ever happened. It gets repetitive and annoying. Do we really need ten similar books with the same woman? This book changes that. This book, first of all, features woman that aren't really well know. Before hand, just looking at the names I only really knew of Josephine Baker and Margret Hamilton, maybe a few others, but that's all. The others I thought I didn't know, but reading these bios I actually do semi-know about them or seen them elsewhere. However, most of these woman I'm learning about for the first time, this is what makes this book amazing. Each bio is about 5 pages more or less in comic strip format, although I wouldn't call this a comic strip. They are all drawn, colored, and written by Bagieu herself. She doesn't write these in a scholarly manner, but in a away you end up liking these woman even more and for you to research more about them yourself. There are a lot of woman in the book. It's very diverse and has a lot to offer. No woman is the same pretty much. It feel like it's randomly put together at times, but it really not. The woman broke rules and did thing for themselves and basically changed society in some way, so in that scenes this is a book of woman that have similar ideas. I like how this book don't sugarcoat anything either. At first, the art makes it look like something lighthearted. There are stories in this that are horrific. The things some of these women when through might make you angry at the men (and women) that did the horrible things to them. There is one story about Las Maripposas (a group of sister in the Dominican Republic) that really had a shitty life an d were killed in a way I kind of wish I didn't read, but thankfully, they are remember for doing good. Who is this book for? I would say the main audience is for young woman in there teen and young adult hood, but really this is for anyone in there teen and up, women and men alike. I wouldn't read this to a child though. It deals with a lot of harsh subjects for little ones. If your into woman's history, comic books, or looking for a good read, pick this up. WARNING: You might become obsessed learning about people you never knew had interesting lives. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

With her characteristic wit and dazzling drawings, celebrated graphic novelist Penelope Bagieu profiles the lives of these feisty female role models, some world famous, some little known. From Nellie Bly to Mae Jemison or Josephine Baker to Naziq al-Abid, the stories in this comic biography are sure to inspire the next generation of rebel ladies.
