This ebook aims to raise awareness among the global academic accounting community and among accounting practitioners of the need for organisations to account for and be accountable for their impact on biodiversity. We hope that researchers will illuminate the extent to which companies are acting as ?stewards? of the earth?s biodiversity. Our argument is that by accounting for biodiversity impacts, by reporting on actions taken to enhance and protect biodiversity, organisations themselves will be spurred on to take further and more effective action to conserve, preserve and enhance the variety of species on Planet Earth.
