An Amazon Charts most-read and most-sold book. Author Barbara Davis deftly explores an emotionally charged landscape of pain, loss, and despair--and the risk one woman will take in the hope of loving again. As a teenage runaway and child of an addict, Christy-Lynn learned the hard way that no address was permanent, and no promise sacred. For a while, she found a safe haven in her marriage to bestselling crime novelist Stephen Ludlow--until his car skidded into Echo Bay. But Stephen's wasn't the only body pulled from the icy waters that night. When details about a mysterious violet-eyed blonde become public, a media circus ensues, and Christy-Lynn runs again. Desperate for answers, she's shattered to learn that Stephen and his mistress had a child--a little girl named Iris, who now lives in poverty with her ailing great-grandmother. The thought of Iris abandoned to the foster care system--as Christy-Lynn once was--is unbearable. But she's spent her whole life running--determined never to be hurt again. Will she finally stand still long enough to open herself up to forgiveness and love?… (més)

This book was a nice, easy read. It has great characters and a heart-warming ending. But, it was very predictable. I picked it up because the synopsis sounded like it would have some teeth to it, but it was more of a romance. It was my first book by this author, so I didn't know. Not that I don't like romances, but I had to skim through some of the more predictable parts to get through it. There were some plot holes also. Kristy-Lynne starts out married to a famous writer, but the rest of the book is about her avoiding life and her inability to get past a horrible childhood. The book never explains how a man of this caliber won her heart in the first place and she survived eight years of marriage to him, but maybe it doesn't matter. The story really starts after her husband dies, but the first part of the book just doesn't jive with the rest of it. If you can ( )

Entertaining Angels

Wow was this a ride! Thanks to the author for a well done tale with so many twists and turns I had to reread a couple things thinking I had caught an error. So ghosts turn into angels if you let yourself believe in yourself. I like it. ( )

I didnt like it at first, whatsoever.
However I really did enjoy the character development. It was all very predictable, but still made me smile. ( )

Waiting for a Sequel

I chose this book out of six others that were offered from my Amazon membership. I could not out it down. Well written and well read. Love the storyline, I kept telling myself, I knew this was going to happen. Adored the Wade character and I could just picture Iris's violet eyes and blonde curls. A continuation would be nice with Her, Wade and Iris one big happy family and grandma Rhetta actually living long enough to make the move and be a part of it all. ( )

I had thought that "When Never Comes" by Barbara Davis might have a bit too much romance for my liking but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the book was more than I thought and what romance there was suited the story and was not over done in the least.
Christy-Lynn is living a comfortable life as the dutiful wife of a very successful novelist far away from her nightmare of a childhood with a parent who was a drug addict and her own years as a teenage runaway. She learned that nothing is permanent and to be wary of everyone. Christy-Lynn's life abruptly changes when her husband dies in a horrific accident... but he was not alone. There was a mystery woman who also lost her life. Christy-Lynn is trying to put the pieces of her shattered life back together when the media finds out about the mystery blonde and she is forced to run again; this time from the media. She finds a temporary place to stay and decides to try to uncover who the woman was and why she was in the car that fateful night. Her search will lead her on a twisted path of truth and lies and to a little girl who desperately needs her help. The path comes full circle when Christy-Lynn has the chance to learn to forgive and to also open her own heart.
I received a copy of this book from Lake Union Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. ( )
