Olympia Brown, 85, cast her first ballot on November 2, 1920. Surely the spirits of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, her good friends and co-workers, must have been with her. She may have felt a moment of sorrow for the entire vanguard of equal rights workers who had not lived to see the culmination of the dream. Of that original group of woman, only she and Antoinette Brown Blackwell, who had inspired her to be all that she could be when she was but a young girl, survived to cast their first vote.
