_Zoe_: The Mysterious Howling offers a fresh perspective on the young governess arriving at a mysterious new place of employment. It's tongue-in-cheek and very funny--definitely an enjoyable read for those who don't take Jane Eyre too seriously.

Novel·la romàtica, novel·la de formació, amb trets de novel·la gòtica. Narració psicològica en primera persona. La protagonista és una dona reivindicativa, inconformista, avançada al seu temps, amb un marcat sentit de la justícia i la dignitat. Hi trobem elements de crítica social, feminisme, barrejat amb la moral cristiana. L'obra comença descrivint la desgraciada infància de la Jane, a Gateshead Hall, on és maltractada per la seva tia i els seus cosins. D'allí passarà a l'internat de la Lowood School, on també pateix maltractaments, però es refà, creix i acaba convertint-se en professora. Ja com a institutriu arribarà a Thornfield Hall, on coneixerà l'Edward Fairfax Rochester. Obra mestra que descriu les dures condicions de vida a l'Anglaterra del nord del segle XIX, les desigualtats socials entre rics i pobres, la successió de les estacions, dels hiverns extrems, amb fred i neu, als plàcids estius, on sembla que la natura es desvetlla. Però per damunt de tot és una obra reivindicativa de les aspiracions de la dona en el context asfixiant i patriarcal de l'Anglaterra victoriana. ( )

Pero el señor Rochester tiene un pasado oscuro un pasado que tiene que ver con el lugar donde viven. Cuando Jane descubra el secreto que se esconde en el atico de la mansion, su vida no volvera a ser la misma.En Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte demostro una capacidad insolita para describir los sentimientos de los personajes. Con esta obra maestra sentó las bases de la novela romántica, dando origen a toda una tradición de mujeres fuertes capaces de enfrentarse a un destino adverso, tomando las riendas de su propia vida.
