Pra isso, ele parte em uma grande jornada com o objetivo de ser o primeiro a completar a Pokédex, munido apenas de seu conhecimento, coragem e do amor que sente por essas extraordinárias criaturas!

This is a fun novel for pokemon fans and kids ages 8+. It follows Red's journey and is the first volume of his journey to become a pokemon master while he visits gyms and forests and catches other pokemon. This is a good read with fun illustrations for kids who maybe may not like to read but enjoy pokemon. It would be a great classroom favorite and variety novel to include. ( )

A boy called Red is on an adventure to catch every Pokemon possible. He finds himself in a town with a Pikachu being a nuisance to the townsfolk, so Red catches it. The Pikachu turns out to be very stubborn and doesn't seem to like Red at all. Pikachu ends up getting used to Red and fights some battles with it. He eventually obtains a badge by battling other Pokemon using Pikachu. I think if you like adventure or manga you should take a look into this. I gave it 4 stars because the story was great and the art was amazing however it can get boring at times. If you like Pokemon this is a must. I really enjoyed this and recommend it. ( )

The Pokemon manga is an ongoing series of books that work to tell a story based on the characters created in the 90's smash hit video game of the same name. The series carries an overall message of perseverance. The book emphasizes the need to train and work hard to be able to achieve your dreams. this is shown through the main character's journey to become a Pokemon master by training his Pokemon to take on the Pokemon gym league challenge and claim the title of league champion. I like this book because it makes me nostalgic for my childhood when I spent lang days playing Pokemon to become a Pokemon master. However, I do realize there are some faults with the book. One of these faults comes from the fact that the book was written in Japan and then translated into English for the American audience. The result of this process led to several localization errors that break the flow of the story. One such error was the mislabeling of a food item commonly eaten in japan. The item was a simple rice ball filled with fish, but the translation changes this item to be called a jelly donut. In a normal book, this may have slipped by, but because this book is a graphic novel the rice ball is shown but the text reads jelly donut which may confuse the reader. The localization team took an opportunity to teach readers about the food of a different culture and ruined it by substituting the dishes name for an American dish which results in confusion in the reader who notices the food item isn't actually a donut breaking the readers' emersion in the story. Aside from the localization errors, this book is a decent read with a focus on fast-paced action. The fast-paced action works to engage the reader in the text quickly while building the readers excitement as the book progresses. The action is best exemplified during Pokemon battles, where Pokemon trainers fight to see whose Pokemon are the strongest. ( )
