Questo racconto è dedicato ai bravissimi barman delle Starbucks Coffee Houses che mi preparavano enormi tazze di latte macchiato al caramello di vaniglia con latte scremato e non dicevano una parola mentre io restavo lì per ore, ticchettando sul mio laptop. E anche a Paul, sebbene secondo lui il caffè sia “una delle peggiori assuefazioni” di questo mondo e “non ha fatto mai bene a nessuno”. Sembra che si riferisca alla volta in cui io e mia madre ci fermammo per un “macchiato” mentre stavo accompagnandola all'aeroporto e per poco lei non perse l'aereo. Tesoro, non riuscirò mai a capire come tu sia riuscito a laurearti in medicina.
