I bought this one (for $2 on sale, rather than its usual $7, which, no) as an experiment, because I didn't find the opening scene objectionable. Reviews suggest it's a less than perfect novel. Okay, so I will learn if that's true for me (likely). I like each character. I think the author ought to have done more sports research, and that criticism comes from a non-sports person, so yeah. At 23%: Last night, at 19%, with Kit doing more internal changing than Scott seems to, I was reasonably entertained. But then I had to skim a many-page, nothing engaging about it sex scene. Yes they're sweet together, but no further communication? No clearing up of best friend nonsense? Really. And these are supposed to be adults. Stopped skimming at 34% and am calling it. The biggest fail of this novel is the dialogue is too real world, by which I mean meandering and repetitive and boring to anyone else. The second fail is that the author didn't allow them to have any real communication most of the time. It isn't interesting enough to allow me to ignore these enormous failings. This was great and a fun read. I really liked that they got together toward the beginning, and they then had to deal with hiding the relationship and how it affected them. Scott and Kip were adorable and had a great HEA; I’m actually glad we didn’t have to read about them dealing with media post coming out as that always sucks in fame stories. Also I pictured Steve and Bucky the whole time, so that’s something. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

New York Admirals captain Scott Hunter takes his pregame rituals very seriously. In this case, it's not just a lucky smoothie he's craving-it's the man who made it. Pro hockey star Scott Hunter knows a good thing when he sees it. So, when a smoothie made by juice bar barista Kip Grady precedes Scott breaking his on-ice slump, he's desperate to recreate the magic...and to get to know the sexy, funny guy behind the counter. Kip knew there was more to Scott's frequent visits than blended fruit, but he never let himself imagine being invited back to Scott's penthouse. Or kissed with reckless abandon, never mind touched everywhere all at once. When it happens it's red-hot, incredible and frequent, but also only on Scott's terms and always behind his closed apartment doors. Scott needs Kip in his life, but with playoff season approaching, the spotlight on him is suddenly brighter than ever. He can't afford to do anything that might derail his career...like introducing the world to his boyfriend. Kip is ready to go all-in with Scott-but how much longer will he have to remain a secret? I loved it - but that was after being seduced one by one by the other books in the series, and possibly they were all better than this one. It wasn't up to the excitement of Heated Rivalry and its sequel about Shane and Ilya. But what can I say?! Scott was a dreamboat and Kip was a dreamboat - and with Rachel Reid's gorgeous approach to this "gay sports romance" series, what chance was there that I wouldn't love it!
I like the word 'gay' in this phrase because that is the way Reid writes - her writing is fun but never frivolous, and she writes the best HEAs.
Narrator Tor Thom is as endearing and masterful as ever. ( )
