This book describes the origins of various inventions such as the piggy bank, eyeglasses, and paper bags. The text is written in poetry form and also includes related facts on the margins.

Students can use this book to practice activating prior knowledge of their experience with the inventions. They might be able to make connections in understanding how the invention may help them in their life and how the inventor initially created it to solve a problem. Students might practice asking "I wonder..." questions and searching the text for answers.

Younger students may find the information in this book very interesting. It details the creation of many fun items. However, the poetic gets old after awhile and the book really is boring for an older reader. ( )

This book is great because it is about inventions, and it can get the kids to be creative, becuase I would ask them to create their own inventions and write about them.

Really cool book! It shows where differnt things come from and how they were invented. I think third graders could really appreciate it.
