Are there Ghosts? Aliens? Signs and connections in everyday life?
This book took me an emotional journey with twists, and turns that I didn’t see coming. It would be a good book for a person who is searching for answers because things don’t make sense. For someone who needs help working through grief. And someone in need of adventure. It took me off guard and I’m glad I didn’t read more than the book jacket synopsis before I read it, you need to go in half blind.😊 ( )

To be perfectly honest I almost quit this book. But I was about 75% of the way finished and figured I would give it another chapter or two. I can’t say I’m thrilled that I did, but I’m happy that I didn’t quit a book because I don’t like to do that.
I did not find this storyline to be equal to Megan Miranda’s other books. It was not as compelling as her other books. This is the first science-fiction type book I’ve read written by her, and since I’m not a big fan of sci-fi that may have something to do with my dislike of parts of the storyline. ( )

I’m not so much for mysteries but this was really well-written. I liked all of the little details peppered throughout that all tied together. The problem with reviewing mysteries is that’s sort of the beginning and end of what I can say about it. ( )

Coincidences or connections? Megan Miranda plots another successful suspense novel, a brother missing, a mother killed, and mysterious clues. While so many current novels appear haphazardly compiled, the intricacies of this author's planning is refreshing. The multiple characters are well defined, the gore factor is minimal and the action supports the plot. I thought the alternating narrators would be distracting, but by keeping the story to those two voices, it works well. ( )

Kennedy’s mother and her boyfriend were murdered 6 months ago, and Kennedy’s brother, Elliott, is in jail, accused of their murder. One night while searching for answers on her brother’s satellite, Kennedy picks up an unexplained signal and posts about it on a technology message board. Nolan’s brother, Liam, disappeared 2 years ago, and even though his parents scour missing person reports daily, there haven’t been any leads until the day that Nolan picks up a signal in Liam’s bedroom with his EMF reader. Nolan finds Kennedy’s online message, and the two of them join forces to try to find answers to the tragedies that have shaped both of their lives.

Despite the Stranger Things beginning, this novel took me on a roller coaster ride full of twists and turns that I never saw coming. Readers looking for a good mystery with suspenseful action will not be let down, but those looking for something in the realms of the paranormal should look elsewhere. The bond that forms between Kennedy and Nolan in their search for the truth helps ease the grief and pain when they ultimately unravel the answers to all of their questions. Recommended for gr. 9-12.
