This is a great book explaining to children about what happens when you visit the dentist. I wish I had had this book to read to my grandson before his first trip to the dentist. It shows what the dental hygienist does, about cleaning teeth and finally what the dentist does when he checks your teeth. In this book they even show a child with a small cavity and what happens when it is being filled. Once again, I liked that they showed both male and female workers in the dentist office. The text is short, perfect for emerging readers, with a glossary included to a parent, caregiver or teacher could pre-teach some of the subject related words that the reader would not have come across before. The photographs that accompany the text will assist the reader who uses picture cues. At the end of the book there are activities a teacher or caregiver could do with the reader as well as a list of words used in the book.
