No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. dnf (82%, i’m ashamed) from a month or so ago. i couldn’t stand the heroine for a long time, and when she finally grew on me - i got bored. for a ruby dixon book this felt really mild. with a couple of changes it could pass for ya or na tbh. i remember seeing a review that said this took ruby years to write, and i believe it 100% (not in a positive way Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

When I went to my neighbor's apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land . . . and I'm stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I'm enslaved. The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I'm his. As Aron's anchor to the mortal realm, I'm the one that's supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world. But Aron and I have a common goal-get home. And we're bonded-anchor and god-with a bond unlike any other. So we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he's a god, but he's also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn't want to do things to him. Contains mature themes. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

This wasn't good but what did I expect?
I kind of feel bad for rating it low because it's precisely what one would expect from the cover, the fonts and the title. Really, the joke's on me for picking it up fully aware.
I just got it for the hell of it and there wasn't any point that was particularly bad to motivate me to drop it.
It's extremely cheesy, there is lots of sex, it's sometimes funny but less in a knee-slapper and more in a smile kind of way and the pacing is kind of weird.
There are lots of genre typical book sins but I guess because I never developed any expectations, (because of a brilliant first chapter or something) there really wasn't any disappointment.
The mythology is just loosely oriented on real ones afaict but it successfully imitates the typical old mythology weirdness.
I think there were lots of ideas and plans that didn't make it into the book beyond some minor artefacts of them.
A small detail I appreciated was how realistic killing was depicted. No "one sword swipe, instant death" which really surprised me especially in this kind of book.
But sadly that clashed badly with the rest of of the plot and never actually had any relevance.
I would only recommend this book if you don't expect too much and just want to pass some time. ( )
