"Marmalade and her crew of construction kittens are in high demand! Their latest assignment (and biggest job yet) is to build the new Mewburg bridge. I'm putting this on my early chapter book shelf despite it not having chapters. Longer than a picture book, but not quite a novel, this is purrfect (sorry) for ages 6 to 8. I read it aloud to my 6yo in one sitting and we had a good discussion based on the plot: the kittens didn't like being discriminated against -- so why was Marmalade discriminating against the dogs? Not quite as good as the first one. ( )

Marmalade, Bubbles, & Co. are coming off successes building the mayor's mansion and the new stadium, and next is a new bridge. Marmalade happily accepts the job, forgetting about the water. Bubbles convinces Marmalade to accept help from the dogs' demolition company, and the job is completed on time - despite Marmalade's initial prejudice against the dogs. A fun sequel to the first Kitten Construction Company, and an exploration of how power and success can change people - or not, with the appropriate reminder. ( )

Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. ( )

This was just as cute as the first one. This time the Kitten construction has to work around water as they are building a bridge. But there is only one cat who can get close enough to help. So the crew takes on some new staff: dogs. But can the cats ever trust the dogs? This is a great series for beginning readers, or reluctant readers.
