I was crying at the thought of what happened being a mon of a 7 yr old myself. I actually had to put this down did a while and gather myself to read it again. That is the reasons for the gap in dates. But over all good book ( ) A truly emotional story about love, loss and forgiveness. Carol Denman divorced her husband over twenty years ago and has never looked back. But on the day before their daughter's thirtieth birthday, John barges back into Carol's life with a request that threatens the fragile stability she has built. What I liked: The beginning pulled me in quickly. Who is this man walking out of the past and into this successful lady’s office? There was such unusual humor. Ashnapped? Did I hear that correctly? A bit of reflection and asking myself what have I forgiven. What didn’t appeal to me: Without giving spoilers, I found John’s desire to be at peace a bit narcissistic. Coming to “visit then steal Katy” and a list of selfish, harsh, narcissistic actions over six years accumulating to that loss? I did not view this a story of strength and compassion. Carol failing to heal for 20 years that’s ongoing loss after loss for a woman that hardly has a support system but wait John has one more thing for Carol to endure besides his guilt. Bleak. Great book. Keeps your interest throughout the entire book. Definitely a sad book of loss. Also a book about love and forgiveness. Tells about a divorced couple and the man is dying but wants to set things right between himself and his x wife before he dies. Definitely has you reflecting on your own life also. Will be reading more by this author. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
