I do not even read the book description before I purchase because I am so certain I will love anything she writes. Her stories are great but her characters are what really draw me in. The are totally realistic and also completely swoon worthy. I know when I read one of her books I will become totally obsessed with it. Dear Enemy I Picked Up This Book Because: Kindle Challenge. Media Type: Audiobook Source: KindleUnlimited Dates Read: 1/4/21 - 1/8/21 Stars: 5 The Characters: Delilah Baker: Macon Saint: Sam Baker, Mrs Baker, North West (not that North West) The Story: I have no idea what took me so long to read this book but I’m kicking myself for not getting to it sooner. Macon and Delilah are the epitome of “it’s a thin line between love and hate”. After a turbulent childhood when Sam runs off after her shady dealings with Macon and he accidentally contacts Delilah and they meet back up you can feel the chemistry between these two from the start. The back and forth between them had me ready to scream “Just jump him/her already!” So this is a slow burn enemies to lovers story that I enjoyed very much. Like “I just finished it 4 days ago and could listen to it again” enjoyed it. The Random Thoughts: Challenges: A to Z Reading Challenge 2021 - D Goodreads Book Bingo 2021 - A book you meant to read in 2020 Year of Smut 2021 - A book by a new-to-you author i was a little bit skeptical from the blurb but, as usual, kristen callihan wrote a story, characters, and a dynamic that was rich and drew you in immediately. I was equally frustrated but also in support of Macon and Delilah throughout the book, and honestly am a sucker for a good Hollywood/ slightly over the top touch to my books that keep it somewhat lighthearted. A fabulous enemies to lovers that did a great job of making every step of their journey make sense in the context of the book! Thank you Netgalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC. Ohi, ohi, ohi. Okay disclaimer: I didn't read the synopsis at all because when I requested the ARC there was no blurb. I only knew two things: enemies to lovers and Kristen Callihan. So i admit the blame was probably mine. We are following childhood enemies Macon and Delilah. I am always ready for this trope to blow me away, and from what I've read from this author's past works she really can deliver. So, what are my issues? 1. Our male character dated our female character's sister. It wasn't a flirt, it lasted for years. They were the definition of "sweethearts" and even if their relationship was superficial and no love was present between them it still irritated the hell out of me that this was even part of the plot. 2. The build up lasted until 70/75% they didn't even have their first kiss until that moment. And let me tell you not everyone is Mariana Zapata. Not everyone can built up a slow burn like she can. And it shows. 3. The characters were bland and flat, I didn't care about them. I just didn't find believable their feelings especially after seeing their past. Too many coincidences, too many plot holes. Basically 392 pages of nothing. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Callihan comes a smart, emotional contemporary romance about finding love with the most unlikely of people. As kids, they hated each other. Macon Saint was beautiful, but despite his name, Delilah knew he was the devil. That he dated her slightly evil sister, Samantha, was no picnic either. When they broke up, it was a dream come true: Delilah never had to see him again. Ten years later, her old enemy sends a text. Delilah's sister has stolen a valuable heirloom from Macon, now a rising Hollywood star, and he intends to collect his due. One problem: Sam has skipped town. Sparks still sizzle between Macon and Delilah, only this heat feels alarmingly like unwanted attraction. But Delilah is desperate to keep her weak-hearted mother from learning of her sister's theft. So she proposes a deal: she'll pay off the debt by being Macon's personal chef and assistant. It's a recipe for disaster, but Macon can't stop himself from accepting. Even though Delilah clearly hates him, there's something about her that feels like home. Besides, they're no longer kids, and what once was a bitter rivalry has the potential to be something sweeter. Something like forever. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

Cute story. The friends to enemies was dine very well. Their banter he me laughing several times. My issue with the story came from areas that could have used further expansion. One of those being further elaboration on Macon's family life, especially since his dad was brought into the picture. Sam was the second, I didn't understand her at all nor the reasons that she did what she did. ( )
