This was my first ARC ebook. And I must say it was a very great read from start to finish! It kept me turning the pages, the plot the twists was awesome. It's definitely a book that has an ending you wouldn't expect. I was like oh my goodness.. Really? And that's what I always look for in books.
Awesome job writing this book Benjamin Bremasi. I hope to read more of your books in the future. ( )

Detective Jill Jensen is called to cover the double murder of a wealthy couple while they are on a family vacation. The twist is they were in a locked room. With her partner Caiden and her father bedridden and in a nursing home with a debilitating disease, they set to solving the crime. In the meantime someone is stalking Jill, and the family of the murdered couple is doing everything but helping solve the crime. Jill and Caiden find the stalker, and eventually the crime is solved in the way the murderer wishes it to be. Quite a decent psychological thriller for the first time out. I enjoyed the dynamics between Jill, Caiden, his wife and Tony.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. ( )

‘Ever Told’ revolves around a mysterious double murder that took place rather unexpectedly during a family vacation. The perplexing case made it nearly impossible to leave anyone out of the list of suspects; as the story proceeded, things only began to move further away from a rational solution.

As the blurb claims, the reader indeed isn't quite likely to see the plot twist coming. I think that's what I loved most about the story. The book keeps hitting you with one twist after another, and you will never guess what's awaiting you. The author has got the potential to do well in this arena of fiction. He has built up some really good characters, and the noticeable feminist approach in this case deserves appreciation.

Although it's understandable that the style is preferred by the author, some readers might find it hard to follow the story as it keeps swinging between past and present. I noticed several typos throughout the story, which, I believe, can easily be fixed through general editing. Some of the readers might not like how the point of view has been changed from third person to first person at a few places, despite the fact that it played its own role in building up the tension.

The style of narration did not really work for me but it's more of a personal opinion. The story has the potential of stealing four or even five stars, and I kinda feel bad about leaving only three stars behind. It's logical to expect the author to come up with something even better next time.

If murder-mystery is your thing, you won't mind having a look at Ever Told.

When a couple is murdered at their cabin in the mountains, detectives Jill and Caiden are assigned the case. The entire family was in attendance at the cabin, and all of them suspects, as being the accomplice to brother Mark who has been charged with their murders. While Jill and Caiden are busy trying to solve the mystery of who is the accomplice they find themselves being the next victims of the killer. Is everything what it seems? Or is there more to this deep family drama? Will they solve it in time to save more lives?

I enjoyed this book. Written and self published, it was an actual page turner. It keeps you guessing til the very end. There are twists and turns throughout the entire book and you are reading in multiple view points. The time flipping between past and present does get a little confusing towards the end. But otherwise it was a gripping and thrilling page turner, and it was definitely in the creeper side. Definitely recommend. Let’s give this author a little more recognition! ( )

My thanks to the Author publishers and BookSirens for providing me with a Kindle version of this book to read and honestly review.
This is a very engaging entertaining debut novel, well written descriptive with believable characters. A clever modern day closed door murder mystery with a surprising and somewhat chilling conclusion. I was pleased with myself and somewhat smug that I solved the case, but then came the twist.
Is there scope for the Detective duo to carry on, I think so but does the Author, I guess we wait and see.
