Only You by Rosemary Wells tells about a little bear and how thankful he is for his mom. The story uses a rhyming scheme and is not difficult for children to read and it is super short so there should be no big problem keeping the attention of young children. Wells does not teach much in this book. The book is just a rhyming list of things the young bear learns from his mother. I do not think that there is a lesson to learn in this book. ( )

The story of this book is in a poem format. Its about a bear who haves his mom to thank for everything he haves. I did not enjoy this story because it was way too short and I did not like the poem format that Rosemary Wells attempted.
The pictures in the book were okay but not that great either. The book was a big disappointment after the first pages. ( )

This book talked about the times the child did something but the parent comforted the child. It seems like a book that a parent would read to their child.

“Only you” is a book about a baby bear and his mom. The bear keeps saying only you can teach me to try, don’t mind what I do, make me happy, and make my dreams come true. This book has great repetition and rhyming. It shows the importance of a mother child relationship and bond. It also has an excerpt in the back about the importance of spending one on one time with young children, especially the first couple of years of their lives. The author, Rosemary Wells, has written and illustrated more than sixty children’s books. She has enjoyed writing for almost thirty years about childhood themes such as: feelings, family, and friendship. Many of her books’ characters have been inspired by her per dog, Angus. http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/contributor.jsp?id=3301 and http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/collection.jsp?id=506
