S'està carregant… Remember When (2003)de J. D. Robb
![]() No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. Enjoyable book. Nice to have a look back to 13 years earlier in Roake and Eve's relationship. Roberts took a different tack in this book. First half was a beginning romance and mystery for one couple. The second half was Eve and Roake still in their first year of marriage and Eve's case was a continuation of the one from the first half of the book. The conceit worked. ( ![]() Two parts, the first part is more of a Nora Roberts story that is about a couple thrown together by a diamond theft and murder. Second part is 50 years later when the diamonds are again the reason for murder and Eve finishes the mystery. First part is slow, an okay read but the second part is more engaging. Remember When is two stories in one. The first takes place in present day. This story is interesting and keeping your full attention with wanting to know what happens next. It is full of mystery and heart. The second half of the book takes place in the future with the granddaughter of the couple in the first half being involved. Although this section has an interesting storyline, it seems to drag on with some parts making it difficult to follow. I first read this back in 2003--bought it when it first came out--so it's like reading it again for the first time. Which is good. I'll give the Nora novella 4 stars, even if it did suffer from a huge case of insta-love. The main couple were just so good together, and the Max, our hero, was pretty swoon-worthy. Our heroine, Laine, was pretty damn great, too. When faced with several situations in which she could make TSTL decisions, she didn't. Not once. Rating for the "In Death" portion of the book: 5 stars It was cool to go back and read this now that I have more familiarity with the characters in this series. I remember thinking at the time that I'd be interested in starting the Eve Dallas books. No idea why it took me 13 more years to do so. Remember When was pretty good. Part One was Roberts story and it dealt with Laine and Max. Laine's dad is a thief and was involved in a big diamond heist. Max is the investigator hired to recover the stolen diamonds. Laine and Max cross paths when a friend and partner of her dad's contacts her after the crime. I thought the mystery of this story was OK, but I really liked Laine and Max as characters. They were really good people and I was glad they were together. 3.5 stars Part Two was Robb's story. Laine and Max's granddaughter wrote a book about how they met and their involvement with the diamonds. Not all of the diamonds were recovered and now, 50 years later, someone is killing in order to find them. Once again, the mystery was OK. However, I just love all of the characters in the In Death series. Their interactions keep me interested a lot more than suspenseful aspect of the story. 4 stars
Using a clever and intriguing story of missing gems, REMEMBER WHEN has all the elements that make both Nora Roberts' and alter-ego J.D. Robb's books such nonstop fun. Pertany a aquestes sèriesIn Death (anthology includes "Big Jack" 17.5) ContéAbreujat a
Laine Tavish is an ordinary woman living an ordinary life in the small town of Angel's Gap, Maryland, as the proprietor of Remember When, an antique treasures and gift shop. At least, that's what everyone in Angel's Gap thinks. They have no idea that she used to be Elaine O'Hara, daughter of the notorious con man Big Jack O'Hara. Or that she grew up moving from place to place, one step ahead of the law.... Laine's past has just caught up with her, though--in a very dramatic way. Her long-lost uncle suddenly turned up in her shop, leaving only a cryptic warning before dying in the street, run down by a car. Soon afterward, her home is ransacked. Now it's up to Laine, and a sexy stranger named Max Gannon, to find out who's chasing her and why. The answer lies in a hidden fortune--a fortune that will change not only Laine's life but also the lives of future generations. And danger and death will surround that fortune for years to come. Until New York City detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas gets on the case. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
